Our fishing season runs from May through September while the shoulder seasons vary each year according to Mother Nature. There are always fish to be found in Barkley Sound!

Types of Fish found in Barkley Sound
(aka Spring, King, or Tyee when over 30 lbs)
Chinook are abundant in June through August.
Size ranges from 10-20 lbs early in the season to 20-40+ lbs in late season.
Coho are the most abundant from mid July through to the end of the season.
Size ranges from 5-10 lbs early in the season to 10-20+ lbs late season.
Sockeye are most abundant from mid June through July.
Size ranges from 4-8+ lbs.
Halibut are most abundant early in our fishing season.
Size ranges from 15-30 lbs on average, however 100+ lbs is possible with this species.
Lingcod can be found throughout the season and are often abundant during the shoulder seasons.
Size ranges dramatically from 4-40+ lbs. On average, 5-15 lbs.
